ALEPH off-line computers at CERN

This page lists the operating systems supported by Aleph offline software and the corresponding computer systems (and network) used at CERN (also shown in this picture).

Unix operating system

The CERN Unix users' guide is a good general introduction to Unix, adapted to the Unix services at CERN. The Aleph Unix systems at CERN are integrated in CN division's CORE services (described in the CORE users' guide and SHIFT Reference Manual) and share a common Aleph Unix environment
File system
Aleph home directories were recently migrated to the AFS file system.
Batch system
Aleph uses the LSF batch system.
Digital Unix (Currently DUX V4.0B, Digital Fortran compiler V4.1(u2))

Linux (Currently RedHat 6.0, Fortran compiler g77 v0.5.24). Kingal generators are not yet ported to Linux.
