Procedure for the ED Board and referees job

I presented at the last Aleph plenary this short reminder about the editorial board procedure.
  1. Get the paper approved in a Thursday meeting with specifically: "a paper should be written".
    Write the first draft.
  2. Contact the chairman of the ed board to get referees named. When you have the names of the referees post paper on the ALEPH WWW. Give a deadline for comments, about 3 weeks, and warn everybody by an Aleph news (in ALEPH.General).
  3. Referees and authors discuss and incorporate comments (if relevant!). The referees must check the physics, the style and the english; please authors make an effort to minimize their work by having a good Draft1 !!! The referees can (should?) elicit comments from experts in case of difficulties and when not enough comments are received.
  4. At least when physics comments, requests, or suggestions are not incorporated, the referees should check that the authors reply briefly giving reasons More generally it is quite normal that from time to time one remaining point has to be arbitrated at the ed board.
  5. Second draft is produced:
  6. If a third draft is prepared: please help the ed board members; underline the passages which are modified so that they are not forced to read the paper critically a 3rd time just to find 5 small modifications!
